John’s Road to Volunteering; Who? What? When? How? Why?
After questioning what I could do next in my volunteering journey, I decided it was time to do something different. In 2014, I founded John’s Road to Volunteering 2 years after starting my life-changing experience as a volunteer, to inspire and motivate others to help others.
I didn’t have the best start in life, so I felt I could reciprocate what others must have felt; lonely and isolated, with a hint of no-one caring.
I’m John Sennett, the guy that works behind the scenes of the blog, and shouts his mouth in public on why it’s so important to give a little bit of time to the community.
A community isn’t built without foundations and as the local residents, it’s us who build the foundations into a unit and a unit that promotes equality and diversity, bringing to life individual cultures and beliefs.
I talk and talk about volunteering and social action, and there’s good reason for this.
Before starting John’s Road to Volunteering, I lost motivation with life and it was the moment I walked through the doors of my first volunteering role, I saw hope.
I knew what I had to do and 1600 hours later, I found myself running this story-telling platform and sitting on the voice, the opportunity and the many call ‘the gift’ of the voluntary/charity sector.
